There is a sound scientific reason to believe that hemp oil will not make anyone sleepy. Hemp oil is just a healthy oil. USDA (U.S. DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE) nutrition database shows that hemp seed is rich in oil, and about half of it is oil. Additionally, it shows that hemp seed’s content of omega-3 fatty acids is about 8 to 9%.[1]
This means that hemp oil is really abundant in omega-3 fatty acids, which might make up 15-20% of hemp oil. Yes, that means that hemp oil is among the excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids. Of course, like all plant-based omega-3 fatty acids, it is mainly ALA and does not contain DHA or EPA.
Some studies have found CBD in hemp oil, but only in traces. This is mainly due to contamination during extraction.[2] Else, hemp oil can only contain CBD if it was intentionally added to the oil. Therefore, when buying hemp oil, be clear that the manufacturer is showing the vegetable oil’s content on the pack, not CBD’s.
Hence, it would be correct to say that hemp oil is quite suitable for brain health. Therefore, its prolonged may benefit brain health. These actions are mainly due to the beneficial impact of omega-3 fatty acids on brain health.
If you feel sleepy after using hemp oil, then there are only two possibilities. Either your hemp oil has added CBD, and most likely full-spectrum CBD. Alternatively, it could be just a nocebo effect.
