What Is CBD Vape Oil?

CBD vape juices contains CBD. It is a liquid that you fill your CBD vape pen with to vape.

CBD e liquid goes by many different names. The more popular term is CBD vape. But they are also known as CBD e liquid, CBD vape and best CBD vape juice. We use these terms interchangeably in this guide.

There are 3 main types of CBD vape juices. We describe each one below to help you understand the differences and help you choose the right one.

CBD Vape Juice - All of the Different Types

The three main types of CBD vape liquid are:

  • Propylene Glycol (PG) & Vegetable Glycerin (VG) based CBD vape,
  • MCT Oil based CBD vape,
  • CBD Distillate Vape Oil.

PG & VG based CBD E-Liquid

PG & VG based e liquids are vapes where the main carrying agent is propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin. These ingredients have long been the key components of vapes.

The amount of relative PG and VG content is known as the PG:VG ratio. Some places also refer to it as a VG:PG ratio. PG:VG ratio helps determine how smooth the CBD vape liquids are, the throat hit, flavour impact and how much CBD can be infused.

High PG Low VG

A PG:VG ratio is high (or VG:PG ratio is low) when the content of PG is relatively greater than VG. For example, a 60:40 PG:VG ratio is considered to be high. These are great for flavour impact, throat hit and for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping.

These e-liquids can have a slightly greater amount of CBD as CBD can better diffuse into PG than VG.

Ignite CBD vaping range up to 500mg of CBD Strength has an 80:20 PG:VG ratio.

Balanced or Equal PG:VG ratio

A balanced PG:VG ratio is when the relative ratio between the two compounds is 50:50. It strikes a great balance between throat harshness or hit and flavour impact. This ratio is also great for MTL vaping.

Dinner Lady's CBD juice and CBDfx vape juice products has a 50:50 PG:VG ratio.

Low PG High VG

A PG:VG is low (or high VG:PG ratio) when the relative content of PG is lower than VG. For example, a 40:60 PG:VG ratio is considered to be low. These are great for a smooth vaping experience with lots of flavour. It has little to no throat hit and is designed for sub-ohm or direct-to-lung (DTL) vaping. Thus a perfect ratio for big clouds with lots of flavour.

Orange County CBD juice has a 40:60 PG:VG ratio.

MCT based CBD e-liquids For Vaping

This is a relatively new carrier or cutting agent found in e liquids. This is because it is primarily for CBD. MCT Oil is great for dissolving CBD and thus these vape juices tend to be much more potent. The only other ingredients besides CBD are flavourings and/or terpenes.

These vape oils are also very impactful with flavour. It can be harsh on the throat if you are not used to vaping oils. It is especially important to ensure that you use a ceramic coil and they are only suited for MTL vaping.

Manufacturers of this type of e liquid boast an all natural ingredients list. They infer that it is safer than vaping PG VG based e liquids. However, there is no scientific research to date to back up these claims.

Ignite CBD 1000mg strength vape oils are MCT oil based.

CBD Distillate Vape Oil

The third type of CBD vape oil is CBD distillate extract. There are either no additives or just terpenes and flavonoids. These will contain the highest amount of CBD for any given volume in comparison to the other two types.

CBD distillate vape oils must only be used with ceramic coils. You must only vape this e liquid at low temperatures.

This is the perfect type of e liquid for those who want the closest experience to cannabis. However, they are very likely to be harsh on the throat and can take a little while to get used to. Once you are used to vaping CBD distillate and best CBD Vape pen you will surely be pleased with the benefits and effects.

CBD distillate vape liquid is notorious for its crystallisation. Thus, manufacturers have opted to create disposable vape pens for this type of vape oil. Many use natural terpenes and flavonoids as cutting agents to prevent crystallisation.

It is hard to come by a good quality ready made vape oil which you can simply pour or inject into your vape kit. You would have to purchase CBD distillate and create your own CBD using it.

You can check out our distillate based CBD disposable vape range and our best CBD Vape pen range.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Different E Liquids with CBD

PG VG are tried and tested compounds for e liquids. These are the main ingredients found in nicotine vapes. Most scientific research on vaping is based on e liquids that contain PG and VG. This is probably the safest option to reduce long term risk.

Another advantage is that you have the choice for MTL and DTL vaping. You only need to choose the best PG VG ratio that works for your much preferred vaping experience.

Another advantage is that if you vape already, then you will find vaping PG VG based CBD vape liquid to be very similar. This is because all nicotine vapes are made with PG and VG.

The downside of PG VG based CBD vape liquid are that they tend to be weaker in CBD strength. This is because it is hard to dissolve CBD isolate into VG and a pure PG based e liquid would be very harsh to the throat, this is what is usually found in other disposable cbd vape pens or refillable cbd vape pens.

Another disadvantage is that the CBD liquid separates or crystallises if not vaped soon after filling the vape kit. This is only an issue if you take more than a day or so to finish your tank of your CBD vape pen.

Different Types of Extracts in CBD E Liquid

There are 4 main types of CBD extracts that CBD vape e liquid are made from:

  • CBD Isolate,
  • Broad Spectrum CBD,
  • Full Spectrum CBD,
  • CBG Isolate and Other Cannabinoids.

CBD Isolate

As the name suggests these are e liquids that are infused with pure CBD isolate (99%+). They do not contain any other cannabinoids. These are perfect for those who are just getting started with CBD or only require CBD. CBD isolate is usually infused into PG VG or MCT oil to produce the CBD vape products.

High strength CBD isolate vapes are prone to crystallising. You will typically see this as crystals inside your vape tank, pod or cartridge. This will not harm your vaping device, but you will want to re-infuse the CBD so you can benefit from it. This is easily done by gently heating the tank, pod or cartridge in hot water. A good tip is to place it into a grip seal bag and then place it into a pot of hot water.

Dinner Lady CBD E Liquids are made from CBD Isolate.

Broad Spectrum Cannabis

There are 2 types of broad spectrum CBD vape oils.

  • Broad spectrum CBD distillate vape oil,
  • Broad spectrum CBD infused into PG & VG liquid.

They contain multiple cannabinoids, but no THC. This means you can benefit from the entourage effect. This is when the effect of each of the cannabinoids are reinforced by each other. THC products such as THC gummies and THC vape pen have become increasingly popular, however it is important to note that THC as a substance is illegal within UK.

Broad Spectrum CBD is usually infused into PG & VG. Distillate vape oils are typically found in disposable CBD pens.

The extract in PG & VG liquids is prone to separating out inside the vape tank, pod or cartridge. This usually depends on the type of tank you have. In our experience broad spectrum CBD e liquids take a lot longer to separate out in the Aspire PockeX Kit.

If you do find the CBD extract starts to separate out, simply remix the liquid inside the tank. You can do this by shaking your vape pen or removing the tank, pod or cartridge and shaking it separately.

Orange County CBD Cali range is a great broad spectrum CBD vape and is by far our favourite e liquid.

Full Spectrum CBD

Similar to broad spectrum CBD, full spectrum CBD contains multiple cannabinoids including THC. THC is considered a controlled substance in the UK, so the only full spectrum CBD e liquids and THC vape juices we stock are those with less than 1mg of THC. This is in line with the misuse of drugs act.

Full spectrum CBD vape oils also come in 2 forms like broad spectrum. They either come as a CBD distillate vape oil or infused into PG & VG e liquids. The distillate oils are usually found in disposable CBD vapes.

Full spectrum CBD vapes have are prone to the same issues as broad spectrum. They extract can separate from the PG VG mix. All you need to do to rectify this is to shake and remix the liquid.

Aztec CBD Full Spectrum CBD is a great choice.

Aztec CBD 2000mg Zkittlez

CBG Isolate and Other Cannabinoids

The final type of cannabis e liquids are those that are infused with other cannabinoids such as CBG.

CBG is known to be a 'premium' version of CBD. Some manufacturers have therefore developed CBG isolate e liquids. And some have infused both CBD and CBG into e liquids to ensure you get the benefits of both.

CBC is another cannabinoid that is starting to penetrate the market. You will soon be able to purchase an e liquid infused with CBC, which has a whole host of other benefits.

How to Choose the Right Type of CBD E Liquid

To help you choose the best CBD vape juice for you, we first need to establish whether you already own a vape pen. Or more accurately, whether you wish to use your existing vape pen or if you will be purchasing a new one.

You Already Have a CBD Vape Kit or CBD Pen

Now we need to determine the kind of coil you have in your vape kit or vape pen. This will determine which e liquid is best suited for your setup.

Your kit has an MTL coil

If your vape kit has an MTL coil, then you should not purchase high VG e liquids. This rules out sub-ohm vaping for you.

If you do have an MTL coil, is it made from ceramic?

If yes, then you can use e liquids containing high PG, MCT oil or even CBD distillate. This type of coil gives you the largest possible range of CBD e liquids you can purchase.

Dinner Lady CBD, Ignite CBD vape juice products, CBDfx vape juice products and Aztec CBD Full spectrum e liquid are all compatible with ceramic MTL coils and great CBD products.

If you do not have a ceramic coil, we highly recommend you get one. However, until then you should restrict yourself to purchasing high PG containing e liquids only. Do not use MCT based vape oils and associated CBD product.

Your kit has a DTL coil

If your vape kit has a DTL coil, then you are limited to high VG containing e liquids only. Just be sure that it has a mesh coil. In no circumstances, should you try to use MCT based CBD vapes or distillate vape oils. They will destroy the coil almost right away and will likely irritate your throat and lungs.

We recommend our in house favourite Orange County Broad Spectrum CBD cali range.

You Do Not Have a Vape Kit or CBD Pen

The following is a perfect guide if you do not already have a vape pen or plan to use a new vape kit.

Best for Beginners

If you are an absolute beginner to CBD vaping and want to try vaping CBD, then we highly recommend you check out our disposable CBD vape range. Focus on the PG VG based disposables to ensure you start off with the best vaping experience and get the most out of your CBD product.

Should you insist on choosing an e liquid that is best for beginners, then we recommend the Dinner Lady CBD 100mg Sweet Fruits of CBD concentration, for the start of your vaping CBD journey.

Best for Flavour

Ignite CBD vaping range has numerous flavours. You are sure to find the right one for you. Moreover, their e liquid range has a proprietary blend of PG & VG (MCT oil for their 1000mg strength). This gives their e liquid a massive flavour impact.

Best for Smooth Experience (no harshness on throat)

Orange County Broad Spectrum CBD e liquid Cali Range is by far the best vape for a smooth experience. There is no throat hit or harshness on the throat. Just lots of flavour and big clouds.

Best for Throat Hit

Harmony CBD e liquid has a very high PG VG ratio at 80:20. This gives it one of the biggest throat hits in the CBD market. It might not be the same as nicotine vape throat hits, but should still be satisfactory.

Best for Effect of CBD

Is your priority is to gain maximum benefit and effect of from your CBD vape? If so, we recommend you opt for either Aztec CBD Vape Kit or the Orange County Distillate CBD Disposable Pen. But if you are after an e liquid, then we recommend the Orange County Broad Spectrum CBD e liquid cali range. The best flavour to choose will be the terpene that has the intended benefit.

Highest Strength

If you need ultimate strength then hands down Aztec CBD 2000mg full spectrum CBD vape juice is for you. This is the highest strength e liquid in the CBD market coming in at 200mg of full spectrum CBD per ml of CBD concentration. The only reason we did not recommend Aztec for best effect is because they have a limited terpene range, they do have good variety of disposable cbd vape products.

Best For Experiencing Cannabis

To get the closest experience to cannabis you should purchase CBD distillate. Use this distillate to create your own e liquid. You can purchase terpenes separately or infused into the distillate. Either way you can enjoy pretending to be Heisenberg from Breaking Bad or you can be your own cool chemist.

What to Watch Out For When Buying CBD E Liquids

Most of the CBD market is still unregulated, especially the vape niche. Thus there are a lot of products sold that are either illegal or outright harmful.

Below are two things you can do to be vigilant and ensure the e liquid you purchase is both legal and safe.

Ingredients of proven harmful chemicals

There are many ingredients which are of concern. Some are more dangerous than others. Vitamin E Acetate had been found to cause EVALI and thus has been made illegal to use as an ingredient in e liquids.

Do not purchase or vape e liquids that contain:

  • Vitamin E Acetate
  • Arsenic
  • Lead
  • Nickel
  • Tin

None of the vapes we stock have any of these in them. More over each manufacturer will provide third party lab reports. These will show that they do not contain any of the mentioned harmful chemicals.

It is advised not to vape e liquids that contain the following ingredients. Diacetyl is dangerous and is the one to avoid the most. Most of these ingredients are used to create different flavours:

  • Diacetyl
  • Acetaldehyde
  • Acetone
  • Formaldehyde
  • Acrolein
  • Butanol
  • Crotonaldehyde
  • Glyoxal
  • Methylglyoxal
  • Propanol

One of the easiest ways to check if an e liquid has any of these compounds is to check the ingredients list.

However, some of these compounds are hidden under the ingredient 'flavourings'. In these cases it is best to check with the manufacturer.

Lab reports

All of the brands we stock provide third party lab reports. They are usually available via a QR code on the bottle or the packaging. We try to upload all lab reports. However, the brands we stock have a very high turnover of batches. This makes it difficult to upload lab reports for our customers all the time. If you are ever in doubt, please reach out to us and we will provide the latest lab report the brand has provided.

We advise all customers to ensure they have access to a lab report before making a purchase.

If a lab report for a product is not available on our site, please reach out to us and we will obtain it from the brand for you. Alternatively you can contact the brand directly and ask for the latest lab reports.

Benefits of Vaping CBD

There are various benefits to vaping CBD. One of the biggest benefits is the speed at which CBD can get to work in the body. The CBD is inhaled and goes directly into the blood stream via the lungs. Once the CBD is in the bloodstream, it can be a matter of seconds before the CBD gets to work.

On the other hand, full spectrum CBD oil or CBD gummies have to go through a digestion process which takes a lot longer. Moreover, some of the CBD ingested is lost in the digestion process. This means you are not getting maximum benefit from your CBD dosage.

Vaping can also be far more satisfying and relaxing than taking a bitter tasting oil.

The Risks Associated with Vaping CBD

There is debate in the scientific and medical community whether vaping is safe or not.

However, there is consensus that it is safer to vape than to smoke as fewer chemicals are inhaled and burning does not occur. Moreover, vaping CBD is a great alternative to vaping nicotine.

Thus, we recommend you do not vape if you have never vaped and are a non-smoker. Consider CBD Gummies, CBD edibles or full spectrum CBD Oil instead.

There are many reasons why there is so much debate about the safety of vapes. The main reason is that e liquids are not uniform. Different vapes have different ingredients and these are difficult to control. We have listed some of the ingredients which we have been warned about and those that have proven to cause lung injury.

  • Some of the dangers of vaping include:
  • Lung injury,
  • Lung cancer,
  • Neurological issues, more prevalent in developing brains.

CBD Vape - FAQ

Here are common questions about CBD vape e liquids that some of our clients have asked us.

How to Vape CBD?

Open your vape kit to get it ready to fill. Open the e liquid bottle. Place the tip of the e liquid bottle into your vape tank, pod or cartridge. Squeeze the bottle until the liquid fills the tank upto the recommended amount.

Put your vape kit back together and let it sit for 10 minutes. This will give the e liquid sufficient time to be absorbed into the wick inside the coil of your vape pen. If you do not wait and begin vaping you can burn the coil requiring a replacement and you can experience very irritating hits.

Then simply press the button and inhale from the mouth piece. Or if you vape pen is draw activated, then just go ahead and inhale. Do not inhale for more than a few seconds. If you are vaping MCT oil based e liquid or CBD distillate, please take very short draws until you becomes used to vaping this type of e liquid.

How Much CBD Should I Vape?

The FSA states you should not exceed 70mg of CBD in a day. If vaping is the only means of getting CBD into your system, then you need to calculate the maximum number of puffs you need to take to reach the limit.

If your e liquid comes in a 10ml bottle and has 100mg in it, then it has 20mg per 2ml. The number of puffs it takes to go through this amount of e liquid depends on many factors. It depends on the type of coil you use, the temperature you vape at and the type of e liquid you use. For this example we will assume it takes 100 puffs to go through 2ml of e liquid. This means in each puff you have 0.2mg of CBD. You can therefore take upto a maximum of 350 puffs in a day.

How Long Does a Bottle of CBD E Liquid Last?

This depends on the size of the bottle, how much you vape and how you vape.

If you are a regular vaper, you may find you will go through 50ml of Orange County Cali Range in a month. If you use Dinner Lady E liquid, you may find it lasts 1 week.

Can I Mix Ordinary Vape with CBD E Liquid?

Yes and no. You need to ensure that both e liquids are of the same type. For example they both need to be made of PG VG and then you may be able to mix an ordinary nicotine vape with a CBD vape.

It would be better to either add a nic shot to a shortfill CBD vape such as the Orange County Cali range. Or mix a CBD vape shot into a nicotine vape.

We do not recommend you mix CBD with nicotine. The two compounds counter each other and you may not get the benefits of CBD as you need.

Does CBD E Liquid Contain Nicotine?

No. None of the CBD vapes we sell contain nicotine. The two compounds are known to counteract each other.

Can I Add Nicotine to CBD E Liquids?

Yes and no. You can add a nic shot to a shortfill CBD vape such as the Orange County CBD Cali Range. They are 50ml shortfill CBD e liquids and you can add a 10ml nic shot to them.

Is CBD Vape Legal?

Yes. The vapes we sell are all legal as they all contain less than 1mg of controlled substances such as THC and CBN. Thus, they are not in violation of the misuse of drugs act.

However, should you decide to purchase from elsewhere, you need to ensure that the vape is legal. To be certain, you need to ensure that the total amount of controlled substances is less than 1mg.

Does Vaping CBD Make You High?

No. You will not get a high from vaping CBD. They do not contain THC in any amount that will give you a high.

Why Does CBD Vape Not Feel Like Nicotine E Liquid?

Nicotine is one of the main reasons you get a throat hit. CBD is not the same as nicotine. Thus, any throat hit you feel from a CBD vape is due to the flavourings and the carrying agent.

Nicotine is addictive and CBD is not. For this reason you may feel a different type of satisfaction between the two. Although, some research shows that CBD vapes are a great alternative to nicotine vape.

Are Vapable CBD Liquids Addictive?

No. They are not addictive by nature. They are not addictive like nicotine. However, you may really enjoy the different flavours and may prefer to vape CBD more often.

How Long Does it Take to Feel The Effects of CBD Vape?

In most cases you should feel some difference within a few seconds. Vaping is the quickest way to get CBD working in your body.

However, this depends on the effect or benefit you are trying to achieve. It could take a few minutes to hours. In some cases you may need to take CBD regularly to feel its effects.

Can Vaping CBD Cause Nausea?

One of the known side effects of taking CBD is nausea. However, the science that established this side effect looked at ingesting CBD. It is unclear whether vaping CBD can lead to nausea but it should not be ruled out.

Does CBD Smell Like Weed?

No. However, CBD products that contain terpenes from cannabis or hemp can smell like weed. It is the terpene compounds that are the cause of the weed smell.

Orange County Cali range will smell like weed when you open the bottle as they are packed with terpenes.
