Vape e-liquids come in numerous flavours to enjoy. People vape, as they enjoy vaping, enjoy its taste. But then, one day, they might experience an issue, and they ask why can’t I taste the flavour in my vape?
Well, the reasons could be innumerable. People often get bored with specific activities over time. There could be many reasons why one cannot taste the flavour, from psychological ones to more severe ones. So, let’s explore some of the common reasons why one might not feel the flavour of the vape.
It is a pretty common issue. The time will come when your tongue will become insensitive to your favourite flavour or your favourite CBD vape pens. It is just a temporary phenomenon, and all one has to do is change the flavour.
This issue happens even with food. For example, you may stop enjoying the flavour of a specific candy. However, if you change the flavour or take a short break from that particular taste, you can again start enjoying it. This is sometimes also called “flavour fatigue.”[1]
The vaper’s tongue or flavour fatigue is not difficult to identify since the e-liquid is the same, and the vaping device is working well. It is only you who stopped enjoying the flavour. In such instances, people sometimes wrongly blame the manufacturer for compromising on the quality. However, this is not the case. It only means that you need some break from that particular flavour.
Other reasons why you might not feel the flavour could be inadequate saturation of vapour with e-liquid. This may occur due to issues with wicks, causing dry coil.
In this case, one may feel a burnt taste due to the lower saturation of wicks with e-liquid.
In some cases, it may also be due to dirty equipment. That is why it is strongly recommended to clean your CBD vape pod from time to time. This is more true for refillable vape pens.
A less common reason, yet a possibility. It is vital to understand that essential oils and flavours are quite volatile substances, and they are also less stable molecules. Therefore, flavour degradation over time is a common issue.
For example, molecules like nicotine or cannabinoids are relatively more stable than flavours. Thus, if e-liquid has expired or it was not stored well, the flavour is the first thing that might suffer.[2]
We say repeatedly that we never compromise on e-liquid quality. Low-quality e-liquids or counterfeit products may quickly start losing their flavour. Even worse, such e-liquids are not good for your health. So, if you want to enjoy the taste for long, buy high-quality products only.
It is no secret that even common seasonal flu may alter your taste buds. In such instances, you would not feel the flavour for some time. Generally, this effect lasts for one to two weeks after recovery from the viral infection.
Additionally, some medications are also known to alter taste sensations, especially antibiotics.
Above are some of the common reasons for not feeling the flavour. However, in practice, there may be many other factors. For example, if you switch from a strong and spicy flavour to a more subtle one, you may not feel the flavour in your vape for some time.
