How long does CBD stay in your body is worth knowing. This will help people understand when it achieves its maximum effect and for how long it works. Similarly, if one takes full spectrum CBD oil for vape, knowing this is important, as though CBD’s use is mostly legal, other cannabinoids like THC may result in false drug tests in rare instances.
When researchers study any substance, they are interested in two important things: pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics. Pharmacodynamics is about understanding any substance’s action, and pharmacokinetics is finding how the substance moves inside the body (absorption, bioavailability, metabolism, excretion, and more).
There have been many pharmacokinetic studies regarding CBD use. These studies show that much depends on the intake route and total CBD dosage. Another vital thing that affects is the chronicity of CBD’s use.
Thus, for example, sublingually taken CBD oil or CBD vapes are absorbed quickly, but they stay in the system for a shorter time. However, if one ingests CBD, like taking gummies, it will be slow to absorb but will remain in the system for longer.
Further, if you keep using CBD regularly, it keeps accumulating, and with every consequent use, its half-life increases. Thus, after a few dosages, CBD may stay in a system for more than 24 hours. Naturally, if you use CBD daily, it will accumulate a bit.
Of course, it would not keep accumulating infinitely. Generally, the peak is achieved within 3 to 5 days. Hence, most people would experience peak benefits after a few days. Generally, CBD will stay in the system for 2-3 days.
Ok, now let us look specifically at vaping. When a person vapes CBD, it almost instantly enters the bloodstream. Studies suggest that about one-third to half of all the inhaled CBD enters the body immediately.[1] This is not bad since, on ingestion, just about one-fifth of CBD enters the body.
Once it enters the body, it almost instantly starts working. It means that one achieves maximum effect within a few puffs. Thus, one can expect to achieve maximum benefit within a few minutes.
Studies suggest that there are massive individual differences among individuals. Hence, after vaping, CBD may stay in the body for a few hours to more than a day. However, things change considerably with repeated vaping and increasing dosage. In such cases, CBD will stay in the body for longer than a day due to the accumulation and saturation of metabolic pathways.
If one vapes regularly, CBD starts accumulating in the body and reaches a peak in a few days. After that, its levels do not rise, as the body reaches its limits and no more CBD can accumulate.
Hence, if one discontinues CBD vaping, it would still remain in the system for a few days. Especially if one discontinues after vaping for a few days. In most instances, traces or minute amounts of CBD would remain in the system for 2-3 days after discontinuation. To sum up, studies suggest that CBD is metabolized quite slowly. Hence, it may remain in the system for a few days.
