CBD Oil: How to Take, Benefits, Dosage, And Safety

Nowadays, CBD products come in many forms, such as edibles, vapes, gummies, and more. Nonetheless, CBD oil remains the most popular way to use the product. This is because it is pretty simple to use and is quite effective. However, recommendations regarding its use are constantly changing. Thus, people want to know how to take CBD oil, its dosage, and its safety.

CBD oil generally contains a carrier oil, which may be any edible oil like hemp seed oil, olive oil, or even some other vegetable oil. Producers add a measured amount of CBD isolate or full-spectrum CBD to this oil to produce the final product. CBD oil may be enriched with terpenes, a kind of aromatic oil or essential oils with many health benefits.

High-quality products like those sold on CBD Oil King might use terpenes instead of carrier oil, resulting in a product with more incredible health benefits. Generally, such products might have a more robust antioxidant capacity.

How To Take CBD Oil

Learning best way to take CBD oil is not difficult. Nonetheless, there is one crucial thing to know. One should not immediately ingest or swallow it. Keep in mind that CBD oil is meant to be taken sublingually; it is the best way to take CBD oil.

One of the issues is that CBD has low bioavailability when ingested. Therefore, one should take a few drops of the oil sublingually. From there, CBD is absorbed more efficiently and quickly, resulting in almost immediate action. One should hold a few drops of CBD oil below the skin for a minute before swallowing it.

Of course, using CBD vapes is another option. Some find vaping a pleasant activity. However, it is worth understanding that vapes have exceptionally high bioavailability. CBD vape clouds are well absorbed via the lungs, resulting in quick action.

There are some concerns regarding the safety of CBD vapes. However, CBD vapes sold on CBD Oil King are quite safe and tested to be impurities-free. Moreover, most vape pens and liquids sold on the platform contain terpenes and not oils, resulting in greater health benefits.

CBD Health Benefits

Survey studies show that the three most common reasons why people use CBD are stress and anxiety management, sleep improvement, and chronic pains.(1)

Here, it is worth keeping in mind that commonly sold CBD oils are not for treating medical conditions. Of course, this does not mean that they do not have health benefits.

In fact, one does not have to be living with health conditions or diseases to enjoy its health benefits. It is better to use CBD oil to prevent chronic health issues. Thus, one can use it to overcome stress and improve sleep even if one does not have any severe problems.

CBD Oil Dosage

This topic needs some discussion so that users understand what is good and what is not. In October 2023, the Food and Standards Agency (FSA), UK, revised its guidelines, stating that people should avoid taking more than 10 mg of CBD oil a day.(2) It means CBD oil dosage for sleep is also 10 mg a day.

Of course, FSA recommendations are for those planning to take CBD oil or vape daily. FSA thinks that there is sufficient data to say that at this dosage, CBD is safe if taken daily for months or even years.

In practice, that means 4-5 drops of 5% CBD oil taken sublingually. Or it may mean 10-20 puffs of CBD vapes.

However, the earlier FSA recommendation was much higher at 70 mg daily. However, such dosages are safe and good for short-term use but are not ideal for daily or regular intake.

Further, when taking CBD to overcome stress and anxiety or improve sleep quality, not all may benefit from 10 mg of CBD a day.

Thus, for example, a medication called Epidiolex, which is a CBD-based drug approved for managing severe health conditions, has a much higher dosage of a few hundred milligrams a day.(3)

We do not recommend people exceed CBD dosage and encourage following FSA guidelines. Nonetheless, consumers have the right to complete information to understand what is safe.

CBD Oil Safety

There is a reason why the FSA says people should take no more than 10 mg of CBD a day. At that dosage, it is very safe. The chances are slim that anyone would experience any side effects at this dosage. FSA recommendations are based on extensive data and the latest understanding. It is FSA’s duty to inform consumers what is safe and in what amounts.

However, if one exceeds the recommended dosage, it may reduce alertness and appetite and cause fatigue. At significantly higher dosages like those used to treat epilepsy (a few 100 milligrams a day), it may cause many more side effects like interaction with other medications and even cause organ toxicity on prolonged use.(4)

The Bottom Line

To sum up, CBD is pretty safe for prolonged use if one follows FSA dosage guidelines. It has many health benefits. One can use CBD for different health benefits, counter stress, and improve sleep quality. However, always buy CBD oil of good quality to experience its health benefits.
